Getting Involved

Getting involved is easy. We are continually looking for volunteers to help us throughout the year. There are varied opportunities. You can do a little or a lot.

1. Join the steering committee. Contact Barb McLean at 360- 352-8695.
2. Volunteer your organization or church group to pick up and wash gently used clothes from a local school’s lost and found. Help is most often needed from January through July for this activity.
3. Sponsor a fund raiser or collect school supplies at your work place, community organization or church.
4. Shop back to school sales and donate items.
5. Volunteer during Distribution Week. Help is needed at Jefferson Middle School, our distribution site, Monday August 16 to Wednesday, August 18th. Work includes unloading, setting up, sorting, and displaying school supplies and clothing. We can use your help for a few hours or a few days.
6. Distribution Day is Thursday, August 19, at Jefferson Middle School. There are numerous tasks to perform. However, for the protection of the children, volunteers must have prior approval by the Little Red Schoolhouse steering committee and show driver’s license at check-in on Distribution Day.
